December 2020 Week 01 | Wednesday, December 02, 2020 | Scene-It Streaming Guide

Happy Hump Day everyone! Today, we’ll venture over to the animation side of the streaming services.

Animated Christmas Movie

The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

Nolan Recommends:

  1. Tokyo Godfathers (2003) – Available on Hoopla
This one is highly rated and on my watchlist. Let’s dive into a different culture’s take on a Christmas-time journey together.

Spoiler Steve Recommends:

  1. The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) – Available on Disney+
If you haven’t already figured it out, this week I’m focusing on transitioning into the Christmas spirit!

TV Hour

Malcolm in the Middle – Christmas Trees

Got an hour or two to kick back and watch some tv? In the holiday mood with some nice hot cocoa? Here’s some tv episodes we recommend for the day:

Nolan Recommends:

  1. The League – The Usual Bet S1 E5 (Hulu)
  2. Malcolm In The Middle – Christmas Trees S5 E7 (Hulu)
  3. Malcolm In The Middle – Hal’s Christmas Gift S6 E6 (Hulu)

Spoiler Steve Recommends:

  1. 30 Rock – Ludachristmas S2 E9 (Hulu)
  2. Boy Meets World – Santa’s Little Helper S1 E10 (Disney+)
  3. Brooklyn Nine-Nine – The Pontiac Bandit S2 E10 (Hulu)

Animated Wednesday Movies

Coco (2017)

Nolan Recommends:

  1. Coco (2017) – Available on Disney+
One of the best animated films i’ve ever seen. This one had me weeping like a bay for the last 20 minutes. A great way to expose kids to the concept of death without emotionally traumatizing them.
  2. Spirited Away (2001) – Available on HBO Max
My first Miyazaki movie just may be his best. His unique take on society, friendship and life is on full display in this beautifully animated epic adventure. It’ll make you feel some type of way.
  3. Big Hero 6 (2014) – Available on Disney+, Starz, Starz Play Amazon
A fun animated movie with some good laughs that’s aimed at an older kid/adult audience. Still waiting on a sequel.

Spoiler Steve Recommends:

  1. The Grinch (2018) – Available on Netflix
Join me for the first time in Universal Studios’ latest attempt at a Grinch film.
  2. The Peanuts Movie (2015) – Available on Disney+
A perfect children’s movie with unique cgi/stock animation and nostalgic storylines from the animated series.
  3. Anastasia (1997) – Available on HBO Max
Sticking with the nostalgia, let’s check out one of the best animated 90 movies that wasn’t under the Disney umbrella (until they bought FOX of course)
